Sun, December 3, 2023 (10:00 am - 1:30 pm)
720 Barg Salt Run Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45244

Description

  1. Govardhan Puja: Also known as Annakut, this festival is celebrated the day after Diwali. It commemorates an incident from Lord Krishna’s life where he lifted the Govardhan Hill to protect villagers from rain sent by Lord Indra. People prepare a variety of food offerings, create mountain-like stacks (symbolic of Govardhan Hill) made of food, and offer prayers to Lord Krishna.
  2. Annakut Mahotsav: The Annakut festival, observed on the same day as Govardhan Puja, involves the offering of a variety of food items to deities in temples. It signifies gratitude to God for the harvest and is celebrated with grand displays of various food items in a mountain-like arrangement, representing the Govardhan Hill.
  3. Tulsi Vivah: Tulsi Vivah marks the ceremonial marriage of the Tulsi plant (holy basil) to Lord Vishnu or his avatar Lord Krishna. This festival usually occurs in Kartik month (October-November). It’s a significant event, and people perform rituals by decorating the Tulsi plant, conducting a mock marriage ceremony, and offering prayers to seek the blessings of the divine couple.
